Battle of the Face Masks // One for each skin dilemma

Brightening //
I've never really understood brightening masks - I've always thought that my skin looked dull somewhat, but I didn't see how skincare products beyond highlighter and fake tan actually made a difference. That is until I came across this pack of Murad Brightening Masks (£25). Whilst I'm not transformed from a dreary winter day to a bright sunshiny afternoon, my pores do appear less obvious and my skin just looks so much cleaner, fresher and even. So, I guess thats what 'brighter' really means?

Moisturising //
Strangely, a lot of moisturising masks seem to break my skin out in odd red patches. Origins much loved 'drink up' really doesn't agree with me, but this Korres Yoghurt Moisturising Mask (£16) is really something. Its a mega simple mask that does exactly as it says on the tube, nothing more and nothing less, and being in the depths of winter, its much appreciated.

Clarifying //
Origins Clear Improvement (£22) contains real charcoal, something that I first discovered my skin loves way back when I was a Lush obsessee, repurchasing Coalface soap over and over. I use this when my skin looks congested (ugh pores), but I always need to follow it up with a moisturising mask, as it can be a bit drying too. Omorovicza though, as expensive as it is, has managed to crack the clay/mud side of things with their Deep Cleansing Mask (£57)*. It somehow managing to cleanse pores, whilst leaving skin super smooth and moisturised too. Really, they're similar in what they promise to deliver, but the Omorovicza is much gentler, and feels 'purer,' which my newly mattified skin surely appreciates. The biggest difference though, is that the Omorovicza seems to eradicate redness, whilst the Origins mask seems to make my whole face red for a while, and that takes a while to settle.

They're all winners in my book, and as they all promise and deliver a different outcome, I'd be happy to repurchase all of them. With winter well and truly settled in, I'm more often reaching for the pamper goods, and masks are always top of the list, alongside hot chocolate and a heated wheat bag, mmm...

What are your favourite masks?
