Ragdale Hall // Spa Day - The perfect one?

I absolutely, have to tell you about this spa, Ragdale Hall, in Leicester. Dan and I are both quite impartial to a spa, though we've always been on the search for the perfect, all-in-one spa where we can both get pampered, float around, pig out and catch a relaxing snooze, too.
We were greeted here by a pretty manor house, and seeing as we got there at 8am, fog still kissed the landscape, and it looked quite picturesque. It was indeed freezing though, so although we didn't take the chance to have a proper look around the grounds, from what we could tell, it'd make an amazing wedding venue - Dan was imagining the photo opportunities of course, typical photographer! The staff were really nice, and we were greeted with a drink in the cafe before we had the choice of being left to our own devices or be shown around on a little tour. Wanting to beat the crowds, we totted off and had the whole place seemingly to ourselves for a short while, dashing from one feature to the next, trying to take it all in before we settled down somewhere. Like actual kids in a theme park!

There is just so much to discover. Our favourite was the candle pool, a sectioned floating pool with ambient lights, candles and hypnotic music - Neither of us have seen anything like this before, but it was truly relaxing. There are plenty of rooms though, so everyone is bound to find something they like, and if the sauna is too hot for you, there are a number of different themed and heated rooms, so you'll find one that feels comfortable - I quite liked the comfort of the warm herb scented room, though Dan said it was boring, and preferred the salt steam room and especially the outdoor hydro pool with waterfalls.

Included in our £145 Refresh and Revive deal was a 50 minute facial and massage, the latter being one of the best I've ever had. I know I say that every time, and maybe I'm just relaxing the more I have them, but my therapist was attentive, firm, and actually listened when I told her that I'm hard of hearing. Its so embarrassing being asked to turn over as I lie there face down leaving them wondering if I'd fallen asleep, and making me wonder what the heck they're talking about, haha! If I had money in my robes I would've tipped her well, but instead I bought some of the Decleor products she used for my very first facial (definitely going to make that a common feature in my life from now on), and Dan bought some Elemis Men goodies too. Holla commission?

Now, there seems to be downsides to every spa we've been to, and I have to be honest here. Included in our deal was a buffet lunch, in a chilly dining room - Not very cosy when you're sitting in a damp dressing gown, and although the soup was nice, the main was nothing special. Facilities wise, there are so many different things to do, places to discover and prance around, but, there is nowhere warm to snooze, and this is a first. There are some nice loungers around the pool that I napped on with towels, but the only retreat is on the other side of the spa, and is really outdated and garish. If there was just a gently lit room with gentle music and lots of blankets, this place would get a 10/10 from me, but it loses a point or two for the above - It forgivable, and its still one of my favourite spas. I want to take my mum for her first ever spa day!

Over time I've come to realise that taking time out every now and then is imperative to actually getting anything of great quality done. And, you know, its nice to have something to look forward to. Spas have somehow become one of our favourite ways to take time out and recharge, although we both like them to have something new to discover - Something more than your usual steam room, pool, and spa, and essentially, Ragdale Hall delivers. Its comfortable, and theres plenty to discover. Would I recommend it? Yes, absolutely.

Wheres your favourite spa?
