Real Techniques Blush brush £10
Real Techniques Face brush £10
Real Techniques can do no wrong, as far as I'm concerned. I remember the days when I'd spend £30 on a single Mac brush, and actually these brushes are of equal quality, if not more so. My favourites and most used are the tapered blush brush, and the buffing face brush, which has changed the way I apply foundation entirely. There are cheaper alternatives to eye make up too, and although I do still reach for my Mac crease blending brush, these Models Own brushes are my favourites for eyebrows, base colour and crease application. Although not pictured, Elf's brushes are worth mentioning too, particularly their studio flat powder brush, and stippling brushes - Thank me later!

Collection Lasting Perfection concealer £4
Maybelline Fit concealer £6
Rimmel highlighting match perfection concealer £6
Bourjois Perfect 123 Foundation £11
Raved about everywhere it seems, the Collection concealer has slowly crept up in price over the years, but its still worth it. Rivalling several of its more expensive alternatives, this is one of my most 'reached for' concealers for my under eyes. It could last longer, but I really have no complaints! I find the Maybelline concealer contains a bit more moisture and is better suited for blemishes, and Rimmels offering is a nice, incredibly light concealer that I use under the eyes and across the bridge of the nose. It doesn't offer the best coverage, but it has better uses as a highlighting concealer. Foundation I am really fussy about and usually stick to higher ends, but this Bourjois foundation has taken my fancy. It doesn't last a whole day so I don't wear it at work, but its decent coverage and semi-natural finish still have me reaching for it usually at weekends.

Models Own blush 'warm glow' £6
17 Blush 'damson wine' £3.50
17 Glow Rocks 'pink bronze' £5
MUA Shimmer Highlighter £3
There are so many decent cheek products on the high street, and whilst I don't think anything will ever beat Nars, I am a fan of Models Owns incredibly pigmented blushes. 17's are also something to try, but don't expect inspirational packaging. Even though the range of colours is tiny, they're worth every penny for every day use. Where 17 have really flourished though, is with their glow rocks which are a pretty close dupe for my well loved Laura Merciers Rose Rendezvous illuminator.

MUA palettes 'Undressed' & 'Undress me too' £4 each
Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil £3
Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner £6
Maybelline Master Precise Gel Pencil Liner
Barry M Shimmering Eye Crayon
Rimmel Extra Wow Mascara £5.50
I think the MUA palettes are well known dupes of the much loved Urban Decay 'Naked' Palettes, and they're such a steal it'd be silly not to give them a go. I still prefer the UD original versions, but these are compact enough to throw in a weekend bag without worrying about whether or not they'll all make it in one piece. I've used the Rimmel brow pencil on and off for years, and although I stick with my Nars pencil or HD Brows palette for occasions, I tend to use this for my natural day to day work 'look.' I often reach for the Barry M crayon to highlight around the eyes, and its ridiculously quick and easy to use. Top points are saved for Maybelline though, their liquid liner is hands down the best I've ever used, and the gel liner is a dupe for Urban Decays awesome eyeliners - Says it all really!
Others //
Models own polish 'Nude Beige' £5
Bourjois Rouge Edition lipstick '18' £8
Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish lipstick '08' £5.50
I don't really wear nail varnish due to my line of work, but when I do, this is usually my first choice, and is the only nail polish I've repurchased time and time again (it goes gloopy)! Lipstick though, I'm always reaching for, and whilst Mac, Lancome and YSL will always rule the game here, these Bourjois and Rimmel lippies are the only high street offerings I've ever tried and loved.
What're your favourite high street products?

I LOVE the Real Techniques brushes, they're amazing! I would even opt for them over high end brushes! Might also try out that Maybelline concealer :) You got some real bargains here!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try out some of the MUA products, especially the ones you've featured.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of Barry M nail polishes for their price.

I feel like you're the only person other than me I've heard talk about the 17 blushers! I loved this shade for years and used nothing but it, then I got benetint and when I went back to buy the 17 one the shade had changed! I'm still gutted.. haha.

I love the Rouge Edition lipsticks, have got a few shades of them now and they're pretty much all I use for daily lipstick! I haven't been on a high street spending spree for ages, think I'll need to go to Boots soon and stock up on some of these products!

I love seeing these posts as it's always great to not have to spend £££'s on getting a decent product. My favourites at the moment are the Seventeen Phwoarr Paint, Maybelline Colour Tattoos and the Seventeen Mark Your Mark eyeliner.

You definitely can't go wrong with MUA!
ReplyDeleteI love this post! I really hate spending more than £10 on make up so this post is perfect for me.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely going to have to check out the nude Models Own nail polish. And the Maybelline Fit concealer because I'm looking for a new one but I think the Collecton 2000 one is too light on me (but my skin tone varies depending on the weather as I tan easily).

i have those exact same 2 MUA palettes, they're so good. Best results are if applied with a moist cotton bud i find! I also recently bought a single shadow of theirs in a cream/pearlescent gold which is amazing! works a treat as a wee highlighter too ^_^. I bought the undress your skin hightlight/shimmer thingie a wee while ago too but had to chuck it cause i dropped it and smashed the lid :( XX
ReplyDeleteI love a bargain so I'll definitely be checking some of these out next time I'm in Boots/Superdrug! MUA's undressed range is fantastic, I have the palettes and the highlighter, and also the primer and foundation from that collection and I love them!
ReplyDeleteStopping by from the beauty blogger group! I love the Mua shadows! Always looking for great dupes!

I have Real Techniques brushes that I have yet to use. I know it's sad. I will say I love the Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks. I received two as a gift and I'm glad I didn't give them away
ReplyDeleteI feel like I want to eat those glow rocks but I think that would be wrong and not clever.

If being fashionable has never been your forte in past times, you may well be feeling a little bit daunted at the notion of going clothes shopping. The secret to success this is to continually seek some help.
