Burt's Bees Body Butters // 99% Natural Body Pampering

In keeping with Burt's Bee's natural style, these Body Butters are looking pretty good. That is, until you screw the lid off and you're greeted with a silver foil. Oh, how I hate those things. I understand completely why they're used, but they really cheapen a product, make for a mess when first opening, and it means you can't sniff before using, either. Here are the few that I've tried, with Dan's little summary too, seeing as he felt fit to help me out for this review. Why not, eh?

Honey, Almond and Shea £13*
As I first sniffed this, it reminded me immediately of paint, but then I realised its just honey on steroids. Applied to the skin though, it smells softer and settles to a nice honey scent that reminds me of the popular Lush honey soap.

Mango and Orange £13*
Smells a bit like peach schnapps without the sweetness. my mum stole this from me as soon as she smelt it, and I can't say I minded too much. Its quite alright, but I prefer an uplifting sweet scent, and it just wasn't the fruit punch I expected.
Dan's One Word Review // "Buttery."

Pomegranate and Cranberry £13*
This one was actually my favourite of the lot, the most fruity and uplifting, and reminded me of a split lolly, yum. Once applied, this one doesn't really smell much unless you purposely sniff it, so its nice and subtle which I'm sure some people look for.
Dan's One Word Review // "No!"

They're infused with 99% natural oils, cocoa and jojoba butters, and I have to say they are really moisturising. But, they're nowhere near as thick and creamy as the Body Shops butters, and doesn't even come close to knocking my favourite Laura Merciers body soufflé from the top spot, I'm afraid. Its actually more of a lotion, and thats not entirely a bad thing as it does sink in pretty well. If you prefer lighter and fluffier butters, you'll like these ones. They blend without feeling greasy, and the smells do linger for an hour or so. It really depends what you're after - I like my scents feminine, punchy and fruity, whereas these are a little more earthy and subdued. Not for me this time. Burts Bee's will remain my favourite for other products (their lip balms are amongst the best), but these just didn't win me over - Have you tried them?

What do you think?
Whats your favourite body moisturising product?

  1. I picked up the mango one from Nu3 too, I bloody love it!

  2. It's a shame these weren't as great as you thought they would be. I agree with you tho on the burts bees lip balms! They are really nice!

  3. I quite like the fact that they have a seal on :)
I'd like to give these a go despite you not liking them as much as other alternatives, I quite like Burt's Bees :)

  4. These looks really nice, I love the sound of the last one, pomegranate and cranberry. I like the fact there's a foil layer, where I live everyone thinks it's okay to stick their hands in and test everything out so this is a great idea for hygiene reasons!

  7. I didn't know that they did body butters! I love their lip balms though so I might have to check these out. Mango is one of my favourite scents so I'm probably going to pick up the mango & orange one.

  8. I've wanted to try the lip balms but just could not get around to it.. But this holiday season seems like just the right time to pick some Burt's Bees products up. =)
