Dress - Asos
Necklace - Coast
Bag - Zara
Sandals - New Look
Dan and I recently spent 5 days in Portugal, with the task of shooting a friends wedding. I say friends, the groom was an old friend of Dans, and I'd met them and their amazing dogs a few times. After spending 5 days with them though, in the run up to, and on their wedding day, I've really grown to love them in a way I love some of my best friends, and I can't wait to show them their photos. Its incredibly intimate being within the inner details of someones wedding, and we as Photographers are probably the only people that see both the grooms panic in the morning as well as the brides excitement, those special moments, the time alone for photographs, right through to the end of the night. This was obviously a little different though, and we had the chance to take some gorgeous pre-wedding shots at the beach as well as hit the waterpark, explore the marina and unwillingly flash our bits to Poseidon as the sea was seriously choppy and insistent on removing swimwear and stealing sunglasses. The wedding was so laid back, every single guest was a pleasure to be with, and the barman had no idea what a 'single measure' was, making for an awesome night all round, too.
I think Dan is incredibly lucky with his line of work, and to be doing well in it too. He's got 30 weddings booked for next year already, and weddings aren't even his main 'thing!' Theres something special about meeting a couple, being booked professionally, and after a long relationship, leaving as friends. I'm one of Dan's second shooters/assistants, and I feel truly honoured to be doing it (and collecting inspiration) alongside my new full time career.
For the wedding I intended to wear this ASOS dress, thinking it'd cover my lumpy bits, keep me cool and could easily be dressed up with a big necklace. However it did rain in the morning, and when I was taking pictures of the rings outside, I managed to get the dress wet and the colour ran in dots. Thinking it must've been down to the flower sap, I rinsed it under the sink, but the whole thing ran, meaning I had to change into the polka dot dress you can see in the later picture! For once ASOS' customer service has been amazing, and they've sent a replacement in a different colour. It's a lovely dress, but if you get it - Wash it first!
I thought I'd show off my new phone case too, as it complimented my dress nicely at the time! Its been clamped onto my iPhone for a while now, and I'm still admiring the design now!

It was lovely - Really opened my eyes to them! Now I want one haha x
DeleteI absolutely love weddings and I love taking photos so being an assistant sounds amazing! That blue dress is gorgeous (and I love your little feline accessory in the first shot) - it's such a pity the colours ran but it's great to know Asos's customer service is so good. I recently dropped some food on my lap at a wedding and spent the rest of the day and night trying to shield the huge mark with my hands/arms - in future I shall be wearing napkins bib-style! But it's great thinking that you had a back-up dress.
ReplyDeleteHaha I hope you had a clutch - You'd just have to hold it in the same place all night, how embarry! I always wear napkins like that, I seem to make a right mess with food! xx
DeleteThat dress is a gorgeous colour!
ReplyDeleteOh that colour blue is stunning on you :)
