Colour Enhancing // Phyto Chocolate Gloss

Phyto Chocolate Gloss £20*

With a lifetime of blonde hair behind me, my hair fades quickly after dying it a darker colour. That, alongside the fact that I've been a skint student, presents a little dilemma. In the past I've accidentally dyed my hair pink trying to preserve red tones in my hair, so I was hesitant to try more colour preserving pigments, but how far wrong can brown go? For so long I didn't even realise that brown existed, I've seen plenty for blonde and red hair, but if you're looking for something to keep your brown locks brown, you'll have to look a little beyond Boots.

Thats where Phyto comes in, its available in John Lewis and online, and I'm so glad to have found it. Its not available in just Chocolate brown by the way, but a multitude of colours to match your hair. As you can tell, my hair has recently been a lot lighter than when I first dyed it a very dark, plummy brown. I've quite liked it, but the blonde has been fighting to show just a little too much. And the roots - Oh the roots! I always thought dark roots under blonde hair was bad, but no, light roots under dark hair is a sure fire way to look bald in pictures. Sexy!

I apply the gloss as a usual hair mask, comb it through and leave it whilst I shave my legs or something. Then rinse, and hair is left seriously soft, as well as lifted with a new touch of colour! It works so much better than I expected - My hair is left a really warm, true chocolatey brown, is perfectly even and even does a decent job at hiding my roots. I find that the majority of it usually lasts about 3 washes though it claims to last more, though the colour gradually fades from there on, and its quite difficult to notice when its truly washed out, but your shower water will be a touch of brown for a good while! Yum!

So what do you think?
Will you be giving this a go?
