Empties // Mini Reviews #3

Lush American Cream hair conditioner £4.45
This is one of my favourite lightweight conditioners, and the sweet scent lingers. My hair is very dry and brittle at the moment so I tend to use a heavier conditioner, but this is my go-to when I want a bit more volume. You'll love this if you have hair that gets oily quickly!
Repurchase? Yes, but not yet, I've got a lot to empty first!

Vo5 Hot Oil moisture soak £4.29
I've emptied an elixir one of these before here. This is one of the quickest hair masks to use, but I'm starting to wonder if its just too thin to make much of a long lasting difference, I seem to spill so much of it in the shower, and so I end up wasting a whole application or so! I'm sure its not as good as the elixir either, though I thought they were the same!
Repurchase? If it was on offer.

Ojon Damage Reverse restorative oil £16
I loved this oil when I first started using it - But the packaging has become a huge bug bear and has just put me off so much - I've managed to tip this over more than once and as a result have wasted over half of it, (You can read a more in depth review here). Saying that, its a lightweight oil and really does help with damaged, frizzy ends.
Repurchase? No, I have no many oils to use up, and I'd only repurchase this if they changed the packaging.

Catwalk Root Boost £11.50
I used to be obsessed with this between the ages of 18-20, when my hair was relatively short and full of choppy layers. It adds volume at the roots without stickiness, but I have to say since I've grown my layers out, the heaviness of my hair seems to counteract the effects somewhat anyway! I see they've since changed the packaging and name, so I'll have to see if the formula has changed and maybe give it another go?
If you hair is above shoulder length, you'll love this.
Repurchase? Maybe, but I'm trying a cheaper Tresemme option at the moment!

B Pure Micellar Water £4.99
This micellar water was included in my february favourites, and whilst it does the same job as Bioderma, its actually a false economy as for £5 you only get 100ml whereas for £14 you can get a 500ml bottle of Bioderma on eBay. I managed to get this in my eye as well, and it really stings!
Repurchase? I would, if I couldn't find the one I'm trying now (I prefer it)!

No7 Beautiful Skin eye make up remover £8.50
I bought this after various recommendations and it certainly does the job - However, it does leave an oily film afterwards which I really can't stand. This lasted forever but I was determined to use it up. In the end I poured the last few drops away to use the Body Shop one featured here.
Repurchase? No.

Softlips plain lip balm £1.85
This lip balm leaves lips feeling silky smooth, and its small enough to pop into my tunic at work without it getting in the way, and I don't need to use fingers to apply it. However, its pretty much finished within a week as it needs reapplying often and you don't get much in a tube. I bought this one accidentally, I prefer the vanilla one but the packaging is so similar!
Repurchase? No.

Nars 'Turkish Delight' lip gloss £17.50
Ah, the famous turkish delight lip gloss. I've had this for so long. Its a bit milky and looks odd on my lips as light colours really don't suit me (I only discovered that after this product), but its perfect for adding an extra tint and sheen over a lipstick, and thats all I've used it for. The formula is not sticky at all, but it absolutely stinks! Did I get a dud one or do all Nars lip glosses smell this bad?
Repurchase? No, but I'd be curious to try other colours.

Lancome Visionnaire foundation '010' sample £36 full size
This is Lancomes newest foundation with 2% visionnaire fluid in, which I also love! I adore this formula, its dewy without being greasy, and sits perfectly all day which is a nice surprise as most foundation tends to migrate. 010 is the shade I wear throughout the entire Lancome foundation range, but in this foundation, its a completely different colour! Its a little dark for me though I was complimented twice when I wore it bronzed out. Apparently its obvious I'm wearing foundation, but it didn't look too dark, hm! I'd like to try 005 for a more natural colour, but my two local Boots didn't have that sample in stock, so it looks unlikely for me.
Also, this foundation is a whopping £36, which is apparently justified by the concealer on the top. The packaging is bulky, and I have enough concealers to last a lifetime, so its a waste to me - So I'd be paying £36 for just the foundation and a bottle that won't fit in my Muji drawers. Its almost worth it, almost.
Repurchase? I'm reluctant to fork out for it, but if the 005 is a perfect match, I don't think I'll be able to resist, I miss it already!

Have you tried any of these products?
What did you think of them?

  1. I'm really debating on buying a hair oil as the ends of my hair get sooooo dry, would you recommend the elixir one then? Is there any others worth a try? :) x

    1. My favourites are macadamia oil and the clynol oil! If your hair is thicker, go for the macadamia! I'd probably give the elixir a miss really, i'm still undecided but I prefer a proper, creamy hair mask!

  2. I'm really debating on buying a hair oil as the ends of my hair get sooooo dry, would you recommend the elixir one then? Is there any others worth a try? :) x

  3. I've actually nearly killed myself because of the Vo5 Moisture elixir! That stuff just goes everywhere and is an accident waiting to happen. I do really like it though but I go through it too fast x

  4. I had a sample of American Cream, I'm not sure if it was because it was a sample but mine smelt horrible. I did like the actual product though x

    1. It is an odd smell at first I suppose - Its definitely not the strawberries and that like they say on the website, I can't put my finger on it but I love it! Definitely took a while to grow on me though! x

  5. Can't believe you finished a lipbalm! I have never finished one, they are seriously the hardest products to use up :) xo

    1. My lips are so dry I'm literally applying it every half an hour haha I get through them!! Have you tried this one?! x

    2. No I haven't I normally stick to Blistex as my lips get so dry! xo

    3. Ahh, see, you get plenty in there! Unfortunately in these ones you get sooo little! Probably about 1/3rd of a normal chapstick?! x

  6. I keep meaning to buy the No7 eye makeup remover, I love the BeautifulSkin range.

    1. It does the job but its so oily! I much prefer the body shop one!

  7. I've never though to use a hair oil! Usually I'll just find a different shampoo but may have to give one a go :) I think maybe you got a dud because my friend has two of them and they smell fine! :/ I really want to try a NARS gloss for myself! xx

  8. The greasiness put in me off the make up remover too - glad I'm not the only one!

  9. Those kind of posts are so helpful! I'm actually planning to try out some Tigi products like the Root Boost, so this really helped me out.

  10. Oh not a fan of the V05 Oil, did nothing for my hair and got everywhere!

  11. I feel the same way about the vo5 hair moisture soak, I dropped it in the shower and it went everywhere and when I did manage to get it on my head I didn't notice any difference :(

  12. I want to try that Micellar water! My Turkish delight lipgloss smelt funny and didnt have the best taste - not that youre meant to eat it but you know!
I should use it more often really!
