When it comes to a make up base, I'm hard to please. I want high coverage without a 'cakey' effect, I want it to last all day, no matter what the weather, and I want a perfect colour match and something that is well suited to my skin. Believe me, its a lot to ask for. How many of you are still looking for 'the holy grail' foundation?
I'm on my third bottle of the same Lancome foundation, but I gave this Origins duo a try as soon as it landed on my doorstep.
The foundation gives a medium coverage and evens out the skin tone perfectly, gliding over imperfections nicely too. I'd say its not too dissimilar to Estee Lauders' double wear, if you can imagine - but its actually easier to blend and a little more 'natural' looking.

This is a foundation recommended for combination/dry skin, but my skin is combination/oily and it works perfectly. Its not too hydrating, but doesn't cling to any dry areas either, and most importantly, it lasts all day without problems.
Basically, this foundation is borderline perfection for me, there is only one thing holding me back. It comes in 11 shades from light to dark and warm to cool, but the lightest, Very Light 01, is a tiny bit too dark for my pale skin. Unfortunately, it requires blending into the neck with some bronzing to be considered acceptable. For that reason, this foundation won't be taking the top spot amongst my pick of bases. If, however, Origins were to bring out a lighter shade (please), then I'd definitely repurchase in a heartbeat.
The concealer gives a great coverage but can actually be quite drying in some areas without adequate hydration beforehand. My skin is a nightmare, but for this reason its not my go-to concealer for the under eye area. It is actually worth waiting for some eye cream to sink in, as dark circles are disguised well with this and it lasts a lot longer. Basically, I just need to stop being lazy!
Without hydration though, this concealer does settle into my fine lines and looks pretty grim after a couple of hours, so this is worth bearing in mind if you only need to cover under eyes and you're too lazy to use eye cream in the morning.
This still works amazingly well at covering blemishes though, which is another main concern of mine and the reason I'll be repurchasing the concealer!
Have you tried any of the Origins cosmetics?
What do you think of them?
S xx

ReplyDeleteI used to use their Youthtopia foundation and loved it! But that was discontinued before they brought out Plantscription. I tried a tester and liked it too but they didn't keep the same range of shades so I can't use it because I'm also too pale for the lightest shade, frustrating!
