NYX Glitter Cream Palette // Review // & Giveaway winner!

I was immediately drawn to this sparkly eye palette in River Island, and decided that this was just what my dressing table was missing. Just a few days earlier I'd seen a lady whilst at work with the most intensely coloured glitter eyeliner and immediately wanted to copy her style, so this palette seemingly popped up at the right time. And for £6, I of course snapped it up.

To look at, the glitters are pigmented and very densely packed, and although the thought of cream eye products usually leave me feeling worried, I was excited to try this. Unfortunately, I was disappointed...

The first thing I will point out,  is that a LOT of product is needed to get anywhere near a decent application still far from a solid colour, and its soon seen that underneath the top layer, a layer of vaseline-type cream is revealed and the palette all of a sudden doesn't look so pretty.
This also brings a problem with actual application - I've used brushes, fingers, even the sponges included (desperate measures), which actually turned out to be the only half decent application tool. Probably due to the dodgy vaseline base, its borderline impossible to get the cream glitter evenly applied and free of blotches. The best way to apply it in my experience is dabbed with the sponge, over the top of a normal eye shadow.

Whilst it took me far too long to even achieve this patchy look,  along with a lot of effort, frustration and approximately 1/4th of the entire teal glitter pot -  with eye shadow, it did stay put all day. I can only assume and hope that this product would look more effective over a similar coloured powder eye shadow, but to me, its barely worth the time and effort required, and would still be far away from the dense glitter effect I've been recently craving! Certainly not a product I'd recommend!

Have you tried this palette? What are your thoughts on it?

  3. Thanks for this review! I've been wanting to buy a nyx glitter palette for some time now, but am sure glad I didn't. I've been craving the glitter look too recently, I've decided to use my ud glitter tattoo set glitters and the glue, shame the glue runs out so quickly and you can't buy it individually :( xxx

    1. It is really disappointing - It could have been so good, glad it didn't cost more! Not heard of the UD glitter tattoos! Have you contacted them directly about the glue? xx
