I have posted about make up storage before, but have recently moved in with my boyfriend, somehow managing to bag myself a whole make up/clothes walk in closet. We had very little money to spend on this, but thanks to mainly Ikea, managed it! I'm still looking for ways to beautify my dressing table, but its good enough for me right now, I'm over the moon with it!
I bought 6 shelves from Ikea coming to £36, a £70 regular desk and then 2 sets of metal drawers coming to £16. For just over £100, I had already acquired plenty of furniture to adorn my shoes, make up and other bits and bobs. I also have 4 clothes rails to the right of the room!
As you can see, the shoes have taken up all of the shelves, with little room underneath for bags; smaller bags are stuffed inside those bigger, and will no doubt be forgotten about because of this.
I bought a regular desk instead of a make up table because it was much cheaper and also the perfect design, long and thin with storage drawers and a lot of surface space!
The metal drawers hold mostly hair products and a few skincare bits that are used less often, and on top of this sits glossy boxes filled with nail varnish, with a Crown and Glory accessory sitting perfectly on top.
Clutch bags are placed on the shelves in the corner of the shoe shelves - It appears that I take a liking to black shoes!
T-shirts and jeans are folded and placed in the hanging organiser to take up less space, and 4 rails take up an entire half of the room.
Also, how cute are these blinds? They're from Ikea too, costing around £15. I didn't notice the bird pattern until they were up!
I use Muji acrylic boxes to store jewellery and make up - Anything that isn't used often is in the drawers beneath, the metal drawers to the side, or the round boxes below the desk. I keep my everyday brushes in a glass vase, usually with brush guards on.
The skincare products I use every day are to the left of the table - I really should find a small glass for smaller tubes like eye cream, because every time the desk moves they fall over and roll off - Beyond annoying.
These drawer organisers cost around 90p each and now hold palettes, make up brushes as well as lipstick, along with a few other essentials like hair grips and cotton wool.
Here are two of the clothes rails I use, they're mainly organised in styles. Beneath these are boxes with tights, belts and hats in. There are two more rails behind these shown, one of which has organised drawers for scarves/gloves and oddly, my microwavable heat packs, and the other belongs to my boyfriend. I think you'll agree its more than fair 3:1 girl to boy ;)
This hanging jewellery organiser was £3 from Primark and is amazing - I used to hang necklaces and the like from coat pegs but wasn't sure where to put something similar in this room, so I'm glad I found this!
Not everything fits in here! In the main bedroom I do have a chest of drawers for my ever growing underwear collection, towels, bed linen and another rail purely for jackets and coats.
How do you store your wares?
I'd love to see a few pictures, I'm so nosey!
